GSO approves 34 draft technical regulations



The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) Board at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister of Municipality and Environment HE Mohammed bin Abdullah al Rumaihi approved 34 draft technical regulations and upgraded 22 technical regulations to Gulf Standards.

During the meeting held in Riyadh, the GSO Board reviewed the report of the GSO secretary-general which pointed to approving 2,326 standards and 19 Gulf technical regulations between November 2015 and April 2016.

The report, which was read out by the GSO Secretary-General Dr Nabil bin Ameen Molla, pointed to executing six awareness campaigns on the Gulf technical regulations on the low-voltage electrical equipment which shall enter into mandatory application from July 1, in addition to finalising the draft of the safety system of industrial products.

At the end of the meeting, the GSO Board praised the Minister of Municipality and Environment in heading the meetings sessions.

Earlier, Rumaihi addressed the GSO 23rd meeting, praising the prominent role played by the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) and the advanced stages it had reached in various fields of standardisation, including the GCC technical regulations, standards and systems conformance and quality laboratories as well as international relations.
