AS a goodwill gesture towards the Government of Nepal, the Qatari government has gifted nine high-end sedans including one SUV to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Kamal Thapa.

According to sources, the Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal HE Ahamed Jaseem Mohammed Ali al Hamer handed over the keys of eight Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles and one SUV of the same make to the Nepali minister at a function in Kathmandu recently.

The Nepali minister in his address during the function expressed his gratitude to the Qatar government for its generosity and goodwill message to the people of Nepal.

The vehicles are expected to be used during important meetings and summits to be held in Nepal.

It is worth mentioning here that Nepal had to resort to rented cars for the movement of VIPs during the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meeting held in Kathmandu last year.

Qatar houses around 450,000 Nepali workers employed mainly in the construction sector. Qatar also played an important role during the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal last year by quickly dispatching relief supplies to the victims.
